Private by design
Privacy Policy
Kinrows is built so your family's life stays your family's. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, who can see it, and the control you have over it.
What you actually need to know
- Your household's data — calendar, money, lists, notes, messages — is walled off to the people you've invited. That isolation is enforced in the database, not just hidden in the app.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't run ads. There's nothing to mine, because the app isn't built to mine it.
- We collect the minimum we need to run the app, keep your account secure, and improve it.
- Concierge (our optional AI add-on) is the only part that sends your content to an AI provider — and only when you use it. Your data is never used to train anyone's AI models.
- You can view, export, correct, or delete your data — including your whole account — whenever you want.
This Privacy Policy describes how Atlas Atlantic ("Kinrows," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Kinrows mobile application and our website at kinrows.com (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1Who we are
Kinrows is a private home-organizer for families — one calm place for a household's calendar, lists, decisions, budget, trips, milestones, notes, and messages. It is built and operated by Atlas Atlantic.
For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, write to us at kinrows@atlasatlantic.co. We're the data controller for the information described in this policy.
2Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. Your name and email address, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Household & group setup. The households and "clans" you create or join, who's in them, and the invitations you send.
- The content you create. Everything you put into the app to organize your home — appointments and calendar entries, tasks and lists, decisions and votes, budget categories, expenses, recurring payments, scanned receipts (including the receipt image), pantry items, trips and itineraries, gift ideas, special dates, notes, messages, and feed posts.
- Family & contact details. Information you add about family members and contacts, and — only if you choose to add them — addresses, which we convert to map coordinates so the app can show locations.
- Website sign-up. If you ask to be notified at launch, we collect your email address for that single purpose.
- What you send to support. The contents of any message you send us.
Information collected automatically
- Device & diagnostic data. Basic technical information such as app version, device model, and operating system version, plus crash and performance logs that help us fix problems.
- Usage data. Limited information about how the app is used — for example, that a feature was opened — to keep the Service reliable and to improve it.
- Log data. When your app or browser talks to our servers, our systems record standard request information such as IP address and timestamps for security and troubleshooting.
- Push tokens. If you enable notifications, a device token so we can deliver them.
Information from others
- Apple. If you subscribe to Concierge, Apple confirms to us that your subscription is active so we can unlock the feature. We never receive your card number or full payment details — Apple handles the transaction.
- People in your household. Other members may add information that involves you (for example, an appointment that includes you), which then appears in your shared household.
We do not collect precise GPS location, we do not use third-party advertising trackers, and we do not buy personal data about you from data brokers.
3How we use information
We use the information above only to:
- Provide the Service — store and sync your household's information across the devices of the people you've invited.
- Create and secure your account, and authenticate you when you sign in.
- Send notifications you've asked for, and important service messages (for example, a security or account notice).
- Provide Concierge features when you choose to use them (see section 4).
- Keep the Service safe — detect, prevent, and investigate abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Fix bugs, understand reliability problems, and improve the app.
- Process subscriptions and provide support.
- Comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not use your household content to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent your personal information. Where the law requires a legal basis (such as the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and securing the Service, your consent (for example, push notifications or the launch list), and compliance with legal obligations.
4The Concierge (AI) features
Concierge is an optional paid add-on. The core app works fully without it, and these features only run when you turn them on and use them.
- What happens. When you use a Concierge feature — the daily brief, asking it a question, asking it to manage something for you, scanning a receipt, or meal ideas — the relevant household information needed to answer is sent securely to our AI provider to generate a response, which is returned to you.
- Who processes it. Server-side AI is processed by Anthropic (the maker of Claude), acting as our processor under contract. Some quick summaries are generated privately on your own device and never leave your iPhone.
- No training. Your content is not used to train our AI provider's models. It is processed to give you a result and is not retained by the provider to improve their models.
- You stay in control. When you ask it to, Concierge can create, edit, and delete items across the app on your behalf — and it only ever acts within your own household and groups, never anyone else's data. You can turn it off at any time, and you can clear what it has remembered for you.
- It can be wrong. AI output may contain mistakes. Please review it before relying on it, especially for anything important.
6Service providers
We use a small number of trusted companies to run the Service. They may process your information only on our instructions, only to provide their service to us, and under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Cloud hosting — to store your data and run our servers.
- Anthropic — to power Concierge's server-side AI features (only when you use them).
- Apple — to deliver the app, process subscriptions, and send push notifications.
We keep this list short on purpose. If you'd like the current details of our subprocessors, email kinrows@atlasatlantic.co.
7How long we keep data
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and you're using the Service. When you delete content, it's removed from your active data. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must keep something to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Backups are cycled out on a rolling basis. Diagnostic and log data is kept only as long as it's useful for security and reliability.
8Security
We protect your information with measures appropriate to its sensitivity — including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls that enforce household isolation in the database. No method of transmission or storage is ever perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work hard to protect your family's data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong. Please help by using a strong, unique password and keeping your devices secure.
9Your rights & choices
You have meaningful control over your information. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that's wrong or incomplete — much of which you can edit directly in the app.
- Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Delete your data and your entire account, from within the app or by contacting us.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent (for example, by turning off push notifications).
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email kinrows@atlasatlantic.co. We'll verify your identity and respond within the time required by law. These rights apply to residents of the EU/UK (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), and other regions with similar laws. EU/UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
10Children's privacy
Kinrows is a tool for parents and adults to organize family life. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly let children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region) create their own accounts or provide information to us directly. Parents and guardians may, of course, include details about their own children within their household as part of organizing it; that information is treated as the household's data and protected like everything else. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
11International data
We're based in Canada, and our service providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and elsewhere. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we use appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses — so your information stays protected under this policy wherever it's handled.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves or the law changes. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
